John and Hannah Brooks were both born in England. He, in Bolton and she was born in Middleton. They met and married in the Parish Church in the Parish of Middleton, in the County of Lancaster in 1870. Shortly after they began their family of 8 children: Fred, the first born arrived in December 1870. Other children to follow were Thomas, Dean, John Jr., Annie, Lillie(?) and two other daughters (names unknown), but in which order, we are not sure. Somewhere in the later 1800's they emmigrated to Canada and settled in the town of Brantford, Ontario. At some point during his lifetime John became a Professor. John and Hannah died in Brantford, Ontario in the early 1900's and are both buried there.
