About Our Family Research

Jacob Wesley Sites was born 1820 in Virginia. His occupation was farming. Jacob moved to Butler County,Ohio, and married Lydia Reed of that county, daughter of Robert and Lydia Thomas Reed. In 1845 Jacob and Lydia moved to Franklin County, IN. Jacob later moved to Kansas where he died March 11, 1901. Jacob Sites and Lydia Reed had 6 children:

George Thomas Sites(their 4th child) married Laura Doty, our (the present generation) g-grandmother. Laura was the daughter of J.W.Doty/unknown. A daughter, Mrs. Mort Jones preceded her in death. We have no information about Laura Doty, except she married George Sites. George and Laura had Lola Belle, Ida Josephine, and Orville Reed Sites. Both girls died. George remarried and had Elzie George, and Laura Larissa. From the children of Orville Sites and his wife, Emily Elva McFrederick came the present generation that are now the "elders", having been born between 1923 and 1937. Lola Sites married Dennie Sullivan, had 3 children: Ethel, Orville, and Anita. Leo remained a bachelor. Josephine married Ivan Pore and had 4 children: Clifford, Mervin, Irene and Darlene; Melville married Ellen Pore (sister to Ivan ) and they had 4 children: Anna, Melvin, Milton, and Marvin. Orville (Buddy) and Anna are both deceased. Ethel, Clifford, Mervin, Melvin, Milton, and Marvin live in Kansas. Irene lives in Wisconsin, Anita lives in Oklahoma, and Darlene lives in Texas

We have a yearly "Cousins' Reunion" the last Sunday in June. We have it in Wichita. Any one who is interested can contact Irene at f.p.clewell@ieee.org
