They came to Texas from Alabama, Tennessee, and Louisana.
The earliest Patterson Ancestor in our line that we have been able to locate is John Patterson born about 1799 in Virginia, he was living in Lebanon, Dekalb County, Alabama at the time of the 1850 Census with his wife Rutha ---- born about 1810. Occupation was that of a farmer. Time and place of their death is unknown. Children of John & Rutha: Lorenzo D. 1830 - 1885 Mary L. 1832 - Stephen L. 1834 - died in Civil War Samuel G. 1836 - possibly died in Civil War. Elizabeth 1837 - Martha 1843 - Franklin P.1845 - died in Civil War Lorenzo married Mary E Berry, Mary L to Seaborn Busby, Stephen L to Eliza Bynum, Samuel G. to Martha McPherson, Elizabeth to Unknown, Martha to Unknown. It is unknown if Franklin P. married. Samuel G and Martha McPherson were my gggrandparents. Martha relocated to Texas sometime after 1870 with her children. Children of Samuel and Martha: Lorenzo D. 1859 - John M. 1861 - James Polk 1863 - 1937 It is believed that Lorenzo married Annie M. ----, John M to Fanny L. ----, James Polk to Sally Willingham. James Polk and Sally Willingham were my great grandparents. Children of James Polk and Sally Willingham: Samuel C. 1884 - 1982 William Henry 1887 - 1968 Emma E. 1890 - 1972 S.P. 1891 - unknown John Robert 1893 - 1970 Samuel married Callie Hicks, William married Willie Hicks, Emma married Eury Massey, John Robert married Sarah Russell. William Henry and Willie Lee Hicks were my grandparents. Children of William and Willie: Annie Elizabeth 1907 - 1978 married Clay Robertson Mary Jane 1909 Jimmie Henry 1911 - 1971 married Oneita Violet Dick Martha Mae 1915 - 1988 married Arthur Hammonds Emma Louise 1924 - 1991 married B.T. Petty
