I am just begining to work on my family tree. My father Sylvester R. Close was born in Stoneyford Ireland (near Belfast) in 1895. His Father was William Close from the same area. The William Close family was in this area of County Antrim for about 300 years. It is believed that the First William Close was the High Sheriff of count Antrim. My Father Sylvester Close came to Chicago in the 1920's. His mother's name was Letitia Mulholland from the same area around Belfast. She died in @1941 and is burried in Glasnevin cemetery in Dublin. The family fled the sectarian troubles in Belfast in the 20's.
My mother and father met and married in Chicago Jan. 27 1930. Her name was Catherine.J. Hernon/Close. She was born in Carna, county Galway Ireland June 4, 1908.
They married and had 6 children William 1932, Sylvester Michael 1936, James 1936, Leo 1938, Letitia 1940 and Sheila 1941.
