Patrick Cody was born in Ireland (probably in County Kilkenny or County Cork) on July 17, 1825. The birth date was taken from his death certificate. According to census records, he arrived in North America in 1846, most likely because of the terrible famine. Patrick, was married in The Church of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Lindsay, Ops Township, Victoria County, Ontario on March 6, 1848 to Bridget Quillan. She was born in Ireland in 1827, probably in the same area as Patrick. He was 23 years old when he got married and Bridget 21. He and Bridget were related as second cousins once removed or third cousins. They had to get the bishop's permission before they got married. Later, they moved to Grey County where the 1861 census record lists them as living on Concession 3, Lot 40 in Normanby Twp, which lists Patrick Cody 45, Bridget Cody 44, Michael Cody 20, Bridget Cody 16, Mary Ann 14 Cody, John Cody 11, and Elizabeth Cody 7. They were still there in 1865 According to their naturalization papers, Patrick and his family arrived in Mannanah, Minnesota in 1871. Patrick became a naturalized citizen of the USA on April 28, 1871. His wife, Bridget, and their eldest son, Michael became naturalized citizens later. Bridget died in 1887 and is buried at Mannanah. The 1900 census of Manannah Township, Meeker County, (Eden Valley) Minnesota, USA has Patrick CODY as living alone. The plat map of 1896 in Manannah shows Patrick Cody and Michael Cody each owning 80 acres. * (Enter information about land in Lake Henry) Patrick died on April 8, 1906 at the age of 80 years, 9 months.
