I am seeking information on the ancestors of the Coggins and Mayfield or Hammond and Smith families from Greenville, SC.
Paternal side: Robert Coggins b 1807, NC. He was married to Priscila Merritt (26 Dec 1832 in Lebanon TN, Wilson County) with whom he had 5(?) children. Markus Merrett Sr. (my great great grandfather), Laviona, James, Sarah(?), and Nancy. He was also married to Daley Scroggins (no children) and Jane White with whom he had 2 children Chasy(?) and Sarah S.
Markus Merrett Coggins, Sr. had 2 wives. Mary Martin (no children) and Julie Guy with whom he had a son Markus Merrett Coggins Jr. (my great grandfather)
Markus Merrett Coggins, Jr. married Carrie Camilla Hinton with whom he had 9 children. (Hinton, Harold, Arnold, Milford, Iola, Helen, Otis Herbert Coggins, Sr. (my grandfather), Paul Noel, Woodrow Hinton)
Otis Herbert Coggins, Sr. was born 14 Jul 1894 and died 28 Jul 1960, in Greenville, SC. He married Nellie Louise Mayfield, born 2 Nov 1898 in Simpsonville, SC and died, 2 Jul 1956 in Greenville, SC.
Maternal side: Daniel B. Mayfield (my great grandfather) b. 03 Apr 1796 in Greenville, SC d. 1863 Greenville, SC. He married Elizabeth B. Dean b. 16 Jan 1798 Greenville, SC d. 20 Feb 1845 Greenville, SC. They had 13? children (William, Jesse, Pleasant (my great great grandfather), Polly, Edward, Louise, Charles P, Daniel Tucker, Susan L. Cassandra Manerva, Elizabeth M. John T. and Living.
Pleasant Mayfield (my great great grandfather) had 3 wives (Margaret Caroline Shockly (no children?), Amanda Jane Jones (no children?) and Sarah Jane Grogan with whom he had 7 children? Mary E, Louisa M., Martha, George Washington (my great grandfather), J. Dean, Sarah J., and David N.
George Washington married Fradinano Valentine Lyons b. 1860 d 1929 with whom he had 9 children (Walter Greene, George Earle, Pierce Jones, Daisy Ila, Ralph Pentuff, Infant, Fred Shockley, Manly Blufrod, Nellie Louis (my grandmother) and Henry Grady.
In addition, I am researching the Hammond Family of Greenville County, SC. William Pickney Hammond married Mamie Snipes. Their son, Leonard Luther Hammond was born 16 Oct 1900 in Green County, GA and died 20 Jul 1970 in Greenville, SC. He is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery. He married Mardine (Marty) Cornelia Smith, born 28 Feb 1898 in Oconee County, SC and died 24 Aug 1980 Greenville, SC. She is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery. I am seeking information on their ancestors.
Maternal side: Fred Smith and Rhonda Dyar. They had 10 children. Willie, Robert, Elzie, Olethia (Leazy), Mola, Fred, Dyar, Estelle, Ollie and Marty Cornelia (my grandmother). Marty Cornelia Smith b. 28 Feb 1898 Oconee County, GA d. 24 Aug 1980 Greenville, SC at Woodlawn Cemetery. She married my grandfather Leonard Luther Hammond b. 16 Oct 1900 in Green County, GA d. 20 Jul 1970 Greenville, SC at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Paternal side: William Pickney Hammond and Mamie Snipes. They had 7 children. B.T., Priston, Maleen, Alice Mae, Grace, Leonard Luther (my grandfather) and J.C.
