Did you know that modern day Cogdills have a suspected link to Robert Cogdell (Cogdill) b1534 from England? The earliest Cogdell located so far was Robert who was buried at Abbotts Langley, in Hertfordshire in 1538. He had many sons and most of the Cogdells located since are descended from him.

One genealogist has found a Cogdell/Cogdill connection to the Heugenots. Entire provinces of France were depopulated as countless Huguenots fled to England, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, and America. The only important fragment of Huguenots left in France was in the Cevennes, where the war of the Camisards (1702-10) broke out.

Did you know that Gail Cogdill (of the Michigan Cogdills) was NFL Rookie of the Year in 1960 as Wide Receiver for the Detroit Lions? Gail said he is descended from the Frederick Cogdill line out of Missouri (originally NC).

Did you know that Ruby Clare Cogdill-Adams is allegedly descended from the family tree of Samuel Adams, (signer of the Declaration of Independence) of Braintree Massacheusetts and also of Presidents John Adams. It appears that Sam and John were cousins.

Allegedly, my gr gr grandfather was an overseer on a plantation in kentucky and eloped with my gr gr grandmother who was the plantation owner's daughter.

Minnie Edwin Newman Adams was allegedly a descendant of the King (not the prince) of Wales.
