ANCESTRY
Oscar Jay RANNEY
b. 26 Jun 1863
m. Ada FORRESTER, 15 July 1885, Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.
c: Lula Aida (b.20 Dec1886), Carol, Oscar Donald (b. abt. Aug 1892), and Ella (b. abt.
Aug 1888)
Parents: Philo RANNEY and Sally Ann THOMPSON (Source: IGI)
G-Parent: Lyman RANNEY and Sophronia SOPER (Source: IGI)

Lucretia AMMONS EDDY confirms the children for Oscar Jay AMMONS, and that his wife’s name was Ada, but she didn’t know Ada’s maiden name. The 1900 Census puts them in York, Wisconsin at the timem but doesn’t list Carol RANNEY as having been born yet. We know that Carol Ammons, daughter of Rollin and Lula Aida, was named after Carol RANNEY. That, with Lucretia’s confirmation, seem to set this piece in place rather well. The International Genealogy Index (IGI) shows Oscar Jay RANNEY married an Ada FORRESTER on 15 Jul 1885 in Wisconsin, no city/county listed. That seems to track, too.

Ada FORRESTER
b. 27 Feb 1863, Wisconsin
This is where it starts getting tricky. IGI says her parents are Andrew J. FORRESTER and Ada Elizabeth MILLER, and the dates appear to be about right, but I’m having trouble definitively stitching together Oscar Jay RANNEY and this Ada FORRESTER. Ada’s line through her mother, Ada Elizabeth MILLER, jumps immediately back to England. Andrew J. FORRESTER is still a mystery.

DESCENDANCY
Rollin AMMONS and Lula Aida RANNEY AMMONS moved from Mukwonago, Wisconsin to Bremerton, Washington in 1933. Rollin was a plumber and Lula was a schoolteacher but there wasn't much work in York at the time. Rollin chose Bremerton because of the shipyard and thought he could get a job as a pipe fitter, which he did. Their children, Lucretia, Beth (adopted), and Carol were between 10 and 14 when they went west.

Rollins AMMONS died in October 1969. Lula RANNEY AMMONS died in February 1975. Both were interred in the Tracyton Cemetery, Kitsap County, Washington.

Lucretia AMMONS grew up to marry Stanley E. EDDY. Stanley E. EDDY passed away in September 2001. Beth married Ernie GERTCH, and Carol married Jimmy LINDSEY, had one child Mark LINDSEY, and then married Allen DALLAS.

Lucretia AMMONS EDDY had three children - Stanley Jr. (unmarried, living), Daniel (unmarried, living), and Christine. Christine married James Leroy Shrefler. I am Christine and Jim's eldest daughter, Erin Kristin Collins nee Shrefler DeLay. We're all still living!
