The Connards of West Virginia

Updated June 10, 2005

About Our Family Research

The purpose of this site is to give as complete a listing as possible of the descendants of Joseph Matthew Connard who immigrated to America from Vienna Austria—settling in the state of West Virginia. He filed a petition for citizenship in Fayette County, West Virginia in 1892. Though unsuccessful thus far, we are continuing our search for a history of him prior to his coming to America. Fortunately, many of the six generations of his descendants remain alive which is simplifying our efforts to compile this genealogy. Each year a reunion titled The Ward Reunion, which is named after the coal mining community of Ward, in Kanawha County, West Virginia where many of Joseph's descendants were born, reared and buried, is held the second Saturday of September at Carnifax Ferry State Park in West Virginia where many of the living descendants attend regularly. As the genealogy is completed constant updates will be made and photographs added to make the site as informative as possible. I am the great-great grandson of Joseph Matthew. My email address is dolph@nichestuff.com.
