Cecil Sutcliffe (son of William Sutcliffe and Frances Maria Rumfitt) was born 1877 in Great Ouseburn, Yorkshire, England60, and died 05 05 1915 in WWI, Belgium.

1891 Census, there is no trace of Cecil but there is a 14 year old Cyral who is living and working as a "general servant domestic" at the Black Lion Inn in Boroughbridge which is run by a widow, Mary Oliver.
Cecil was killed during WWII and buried in a war grave. His name appears on the War Memorial in Boroughbridge. We believe that the following citation refers to him. Cecil Sutcliffe, Private of the East Yorkshire Regiment, 2nd Bn, Service No 3/6756, died on the 05/05/1915, his name appears on Panel 21 and 31 at the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.

The following two citations are recorded here for reference until such time as we can confirm the accuracy of all these records. C.H. Sutcliffe, Private with the Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regt), 1st Bn, Service No 53577 who died on the 31/07/1920, Grave/Memorial Reference - D.46 at the Ramleh War Cemetery in Israel. C.A. Sutcliffe, Private with the Labour Corps, 406th Agricultural Coy., Service No 281445 who died on the 14/07/1919 and has a Spec. Memorial at the King Cross (St. Paul) Churchyard.
