About Our Family Research

Researching the above names in my Paternal Ancestry, Province of Quebec, Canada is where they first settled.
In 1817 NICOLAS ABRAHAM and wife MARY BETHEL(5th Gr.Gr.) reserved land in the new settlement of St. Gabriel de Valcartier, and in 1819 they arrived with their family and sons-in-law, which names are JAMES T. ROURKE(4th Gr.Gr.) and William Bethel from Ruskin, Queens County, Ireland (today known as Co. Laois).
ROBERT GOODFELLOW and JANET THOMPSON(4th Gr.Gr.)Arrived around the same time from Scotland, and also settled in Valcartier.
LAWRENCE FITZ HENRY and MARGARET DOYLE settled in Quebec City from Co.Wexford, Ireland prior to 1850. Lawrence believed to be descended from MEILER FITZ HENRY (B.1118, D.1220)JUSTICIAR of IRELAND, was the son of Henry Fitzroy Prince of England, the illegitimate son of Henry I King of England, by Nesta, the wife of Gerald of Windsor, the daughter of Rhysab Tewdr, King of South Wales. The origin of the name FITZ HENRY comes from Son (fitz) of Henry.
JOHN COPEMAN and MARY CARR(4th Gr.Gr.)emigrated to Quebec City in 1836 under "The Poor Law Emigration Scheme" from Sall, Norfolk, England. John was a widower age of 39, and labourer by occupation when he travelled to Quebec City with 7 children including my (3rd Gr.Gr.) JAMES COPEMAN b. December 23, 1830. James married FRANCES MARIAH WALKER b.abt 1830 and d.abt.1870 he then married SARAH KING b. October 27, 1841 in Quebec City. (the information on John comes from a wonderful lady named Marion, who after years of my searching for James' father contacted me and provided the info)
