The Vancleaves and Odums of Southern Illinois

Updated March 21, 2012

About Our Family Research

Some of these families came to Southern Illinois before it was a state. The Vancleave line is very well documented. The Vancleaves came from Kentucky. The Odums have yet to be traced down. Other surnames included are the Martins from Tennesee by way of North Carolina. The Kendalls from Alabama. Some other surnames in my family line are: Canaday, Canada, Cook, Lourence, Lawrence, Cooper, Lasley, Casteel, Kendrick, Harrell, Johnson, and Russell. We hold a VanCleve-Odum Reunion every year at Dixon Springs State Park, IL.
