Wallace and Lola Mae Coppedge descendants

Updated March 5, 2001

About Our Family Research

I am Mary Coppedge Wade(B:9-6-55), daughter of Myrtle L. Graham (B: 6-18-1921 D: 10-22-1997)and Haskell Franklin Coppedge(B: 7-5-1907 D: 4-22-1983). They had three children: Michael Madison (B;3-5-1945) Naomi Ruth (B:5-25-1949 D:Dec 1961) My mother's parents were Amanda Davis and Horace Greeley Graham and she grew up is Dustin, OK. My father's parents were Lola Mae Hanson (Henson?) and Wallace Coppedge. My father and his siblings were born in Oklahoma territory - I believe in the Holdenville, OK area. I do not know where Wallace and Lola Mae were married. Maybe Texas. They had 7 children, Charley, Emmett, Wallace, Johnny, Jimmy, Haskell and Opal. I believe that Wallace's parents were William T Coppedge and Mary H Miller based on the fact that they had 9 to 11 (? different information) children and one of the youngest was named Wallace. That family lived in Erath County, TX and the Lola Mae Hanson was also from the same county. All of my father's siblings have been deceased for 18 years - so information is scattered. I do remember my father telling me that his grandfather was from Texas and had a large ranch and home there. He also said his grandmother's name was Miller. He also told me that there was Indian ancestry (Cherokee) in the lineage. I don't know if it was on the Coppedge side or the Hanson side. Lola Mae definitely had dark skin and long dark hair and her picture looks as if she could have an Indian background - but I do not know that as a fact. Haskell also said that one of his grandmother's or possibly great grandmother travelled to the states from Holland or Germany area and hid her Bible in her feather bed. I assume that this in on his mother's side of the family - but I don't know for sure.

I would like to fill in so many of the blanks that I have in my history and am new to genealogy. If you know more - please contact me!

Mary (Coppedge) Wade
