Peter J. Cosgrove, his mother Mary Cosgrove, and his wife Margaret Nolan Cosgrove came to America from West Port,Ireland in 1863. They went West to St.Louis where they lived until the war ended. After the war,they moved North to Clinton County,Iowa where they farmed and had ten children born from August 31,1865 to 1879. Three of the children ( James, Maggie and Domnick Cosgrove) died at birth or shortly after. In later years, two brothers ( Richard and John Nolan Cosgrove ) went west, Richard settling in Idaho and married to Alice Gallagher, and John Nolan on to Montana and married Alice May Baker. One daughter ( Mary Josephine Cosgrove ) married Christopher Columbus Starbuck and remained in Iowa. Another daughter( Nellie Cosgrove ) married Dr. Reed and lived in Skaguay, Alaska. It is unknown what happened to Bridget(born about 1869), Catie(born about 1872) and Peter(born about 1879). Looking for any additional information. Mother Mary Cosgrove, son Peter J. Cosgrove, wife Margaret Nolan Cosgrove, James Cosgrove, Maggie Cosgrove, and Domnick Cosgrove are all buried in the Cosgrove Plot at St. James Cemetery in Toronto, Iowa.
