About Our Family Research

The Cousineau or Cousino's came from Perigueux France, about 100k east of Bordeaux. The first recorded Cousineau, Jean Baptist came to Montreal, Canada in 1678. Research shows that the impoverished but ambitious Jean was 16 when he sailed on July 14, 1678. An association of Catholic priests were granting out their land in Canada on easy terms to anyone who would settle it. He married Jane Bernard on Jan 2, 1690 and lived in the area of Sault-Av-Ricolets, Canada. The date of Jean Baptist's death is not known, but Jane was buried by his side on May 9, 1749.
