My Great Grandfather, William John Coutts arrived in North America in the mid 1800's. He came with his wife, Ann Collie and possibly three or four of their children, Margaret,Alexander,Jane and John. They ended up in Crosshill, Ontario Canada in the township of Wellesley in the County of Waterloo, where they farmed until his death in 1893. Record to date indicated that William John and Ann had ten or eleven children in all. Besides the four above mentioned there also was,Elizabeth,Annie,William (Jr) Hugh,Janet, Rosiana and possibly a John Wilhelm. It appears that the family left Crosshill in or around 1890 for other areas of Ontario and parts of Canada or the united States. William & his wife Isabella Glaister moved to Manitoba Canada. Anne married a George Berlinhoff and moved to Lincoln Nebraska in the United States. The others seemed to move to various areas in Ontario. The cemetery at Crosshill Ontario has a Family plot with a large tomb stone engraved with four names only, William John died 1893 Ann Wilson Coutts died 1891, Hugh Coutts died 1943 and Rosiana died 1891. William Jr. and Isabella Glaister (my grandparents) had two sons, Resby (my Father) and Clarence. Our family tree at present is made up of seven generations, all listed in our existing family tree. The search continues for information to the Great Grandparents birth place, which is believed to be Scotland, when they imigrated to North America and where landed. No knowledge is known prior to what we have listed on William John and his spouse Ann Collie. We continue our research.
