The Mewborns were originally from North Carolina (maybe Virginia?)dating back to Thomas the blacksmith in the late 1600's.
The Fiedlers were from Chicago and were originally from Hamburg, GM. They were importers.
Eric Knight was born in Yorkshire,England in 1897 and was the author of the classic novel Lassie Come-Home. His tragic and heroic death in a fiery plane crash in WWII have been extensively researched by his granddaughter Betsy Cowan. She is trying to contact relatives of the other 34 passengers of the plane bound for North Africa at the time of the Casablanca Conference. See her web page for details:
