Cowdens (Couden/Coudan/Cowdan) of Kirkmaiden, Scotland, UK

Updated March 18, 2006

About Our Family Research

I am interested in my family tree that came from Scotland, mainly from the Kirkmaiden area of Wigtownshire. They settled there around the early 1700's and have lived in the area for nearly three hundred years. Before 1700 the Cowden's (Couden/Coudan/Cowdan) had migrated from Haddington in Edinburgh, Scotland. I am interested in any information that may relate to trees from either area or from any of the branches since.

Some of the Cowdens came South into England and settled around Manchester and in South Cheshire, again I would appreciate any infomation to these trees.

I would like to thank a distant relation, Joanne Cowden from Sidney, Australia for a large chunk of information taking my tree back to the early 1600's.
