My father is descended from Joseph Litten Baker, Alexander County, North Carolina who died serving in the Civil War, 7th Regiment, Company K. He married Tersa (TMA) Blankenship just before the war. They had one child, James Alexander Baker. By the late 1800's he was in Texas and married Hattie Brown in Paris, Texas. They settled in Boise, Idaho and had 5 children, 2 survived. One of these children was my grandfather, Arthur James Baker. He married a norwegian woman that he met in Washington state. She was in Washington from Minnesota visiting her sister. Her parents were immigrants from Nord Trondelag, Namsos, Fosnes and Vik, Varpnes, Norway. They spoke Norwegian in their home. My grandmother was 15 when she met my grandfather. She never went back to Minnesota to my knowledge. They had my father in Payette, Idaho with Hattie.
My father, after graduating from the University of Oregon, traveled to Massachusetts and there he met my mother. She is a descendent of Captain Myles Standish of the Mayflower. She is also a descendent of Captain William Blair. Her mother was born in Nova Scotia.
I am tracing all of these lines - but am focusing this page on my North Carolina roots. My family was in this region for many generations - but I need help with the BAKER line.
HELP PLEASE: I know that Levi Baker, b. 1801 in Alexander county had a son, Joseph Litten Baker, b. Alexander county 1856. I know the descendency. I do not know about Levi Baker's ancestors and am having much trouble with this. Does anyone know about this Levi Baker?
Thank you.
