I have been slowly gathering info on my immediate family for a few years now. My primary sources have been through parents, aunts and uncles. We came to Washington in 1965 from Minnesota where most of my relatives live. Both sides of my family have extensive family history in Minnesota. My dad's family around Hayfield, Vernon township, Dodge county. My mom's family (Frost and Klingsporn) comes from around Byron, Rochester and Pine Island.
When I was a child my family would travel back to Minnesota every three or four years by car until I was about 15. My mom's dad died when I was very young so I don't remember him. Her mom died when I was a child but I remember her well. My dad's father died a few years ago and his mother is still alive.
I didn't go back to Minnesota again until my grandfather (paternal) died in April, 1995. I had only seen two of my cousins in all those years and still didn't see all of them then. I took my own family back for a Frost family reunion in 2000. On that trip I saw all but one of my cousins on both sides of my family.
My wife's family comes from Eastern Washington (Pasco) and from Louisiana. We've been working on gathering her family history as well. Her dad's family (Elliott) was small. Her dad's father died when he was young and his mom died before we got interested in genealogy. Her mom's family is so far away that getting info has been difficult.
