My Father's Dalley family came mainly from 79, Birchgrove St., Porth, Glamorgan, South Wales, UK during the 1950's. My paternal grandfather, was a Joseph Yearsley Dalley, (born 1889 at America Place, Porth). His father was Samuel Yearsley, a coalminer, from 6 Horton St. Bristol, born 1867. My paternal grandfather, Joseph, married Sarah Ellen Bewley, in Porth, in 1911. She was the daughter of William Henry Bewley, a coalminer from Bristol. Sarah's mother was Ellen Elizabeth Cains, daughter of George Cains, a baker from Barton Hill, Bristol. Joseph's mother was Elizabeth Dalley, born 1867 of Beufort, Brecon, daughter of William Dalley (born circa 1818), a coalminer from Ross On Wye. William Dalley was the son of James Dalley born 1787,(of Ross On Wye), and his father, also James Dalley, was born in Newnham, Gloucestershire in 1761. James' father was Richard Dalley, of Newnham On Severn, Gloucestershire, born circa 1727.
Samuel Yearsley's father, (also called Samuel Yearsley), was born in 1842. His father William was born at Abson and Wick, in 1809 whilst his father, (also called William), came from Newland in the Forest of Dean, Glos. William was born 1775. His parents were probably, James Yearsley and Ann Burgham, (but not verified yet).
If any of these families sound familier to you, or you have come across them in your research...please contact me by email. Thanks, Gwyn Dalley May 2001
