The Elmer Hargrave Family of New York

Thomas Hargrave (aka Long Tom) was a justice of the Peace in Ireland, near Dublin. He left for America with his wife and three children. Oldest, William worked building homes in Lower Manhattan. Lost his business in 1869 in the gold panic.Married Jane Martin..Had seven children. Robert, building inspector in NYC. William, a plasterer. Philip, builder in Flushing and Jamaica. Eugenie, NYC school teacher, Federic, a doctor practicing in High Bridge, NY, Edward, a lawyer and Gilbert.

Philip had six children, Herbert, Irvin, Elmer, Eugenie, Dorothy and Margaret. Frederic had a son Frederic, who went to California after becoming a Doctor at NYU. He also had a daughter, Gertrude. She married Doctor Sharp and lived in High Ridge. Son Edward died when he was only 34. He had a son Austin and a daughter Marion. Gilbert was a NYC Policeman.
