After finding the persons in my mother and father's familty tree as far as I have been able to reach back, I am now trying to find their individual histories. For some there are records and even written histories but for others I still need a lot of help from the genealogy community. The surnames included in my search are by now numerous.
Here are some of the main and most recent families:On my father's side are: Maurers from Aargau, Switzerland to Illinois and beyond The Nieukirks from Gelderland in Holland to Salem Co., NJ and then to Illinois The Dillons from Ireland to NC, to OH and then to Tazewell Co., IL. The Hights from Germany to OH, to IL. The Proctors from PA to OH. The Hodgsons and Hoskins from the Quaker communities of NC to Illinois.
On my mother's side I am looking for Carmodys who were said to originate in Co. Clare, Ireland and who came to Mt.Vernon, and the Bronx, NY. The Hylands who also came from Ireland to the Bronx area of NY. The Munns who came from Glasgow, Scotland and settled in the Bronx area also.
I would be happy to correspond with any one sharing these interests.
