My grandfather William Millar had changed his name from Bardsley by deed poll in about 1910/1920.He married Mary Hunter from Preston area, her father was named Thomas Hunter. She was born about1893 and they married in 1923 when we know he had already changed his name to Bardsley.We are trying to find the story behind the mystery as to why. His father was Joseph Bardsley of Saddleworth, born approx 1864. He married Ada Ann Craven from f'ston, Cheshire. They lived in saddleworth and had 3 children that I know of, Enoch, James, William. William born 1892. She remarried and had at least another 2 children, daughters with Percy J Wallis of Fulham. She died in 1935. We are unsure of the name of Josephs and Ada's parents or siblings.
