About Our Family Research

The Deiss family is running out of descendents on this part of the world tree. My great grandfater was Gottlieb Deiss born in the area of Stutgard, Germany in 1866. He immigrated to St. Louis Missouri and he and Mary Berkemeyer from Prussia were married on July 4, 1885. I am researching the origins of the Deiss family and the similarity to words such as "deist" and "deity" as well as any relationship to the Deists who constructed the Constitution of the US. I am looking for links in St. Louis and California where my great grandparents lived in San Luis Obispo. My grandfather Clarence was born there then moved to Salinas. My father Donald Deiss was born on Jan. 28,1925. I am collecting stories as well as genealogy links and insight into the name DEISS.
Other family names I am researching are: Mary Berkemeyer,b. Prussia, 1867; Giacomo Moresco, b. 4-8-1867 in Genoa, Italy; Thomas Shanks, b. 1825 in Maryland; Charles Meader, b. 4-28-1827 in Maine; Barbara Shanks, b. 1835 Ohio; ELvira Meader, b. 1835, Maine; Rose Calori, b. April, 1865, Genoa, Italy; Peter Bondeson, b. 1870 in Denmark; Marika Tryk, b. July, 1870, Denmark and descendants of Ernest Shanks, b. 12/25/1867 in Huntington, Indiana. Ernest and my great grandmother Vesta Meader, b. 8-23-1869 separated and he never saw my grandfather, Paul Thomas Van Cleave again. THANK YOU!
