My Grandfather's name was Salvatore De Leonardis. I am not sure whether he was born in Bari Italy or Egypt. His first wife, Ratagonda Timpani had three sons. The first Guido died in Eqypt from an illness at a very young age (< 2 years of Age). The second son was also named Guido born approximately 1934. The third son, Mario, was my father. He was born on the 1 February 1936 in Egypt (Possibly Alexandria).
My Grandfather later re-married a lady by the name of Giussepina (Surname Unknown). She had two sons to Salvatore. The first was Ruggero. The second was Silvio born approx 1946.
They all left for Italy around the mid 1950's due to the Suez Canal crisis in Egypt.
My father Mario came to Melbourne Australia around 1956. His brother Guido was caught up in Army service and followed later. The rest of the family were supposed to follow but never did.
Mario worked most of his life at the Commonwealth bank in Moonee Ponds Melbourne. He mainly assisted Migrants who could not speak English as he was equipped with five languages. He married my mother Eileen (Helen) Josephine Attard (Born 1936) in late December of 1960. Eileen gave bith to Daniel on the 1964, Adrian (Myself) on the 1966 at Brunswick and Simon on the 1972. We resided at Hadfield Melbourne for all of our youth days.
I married Jenny Palmos (Born 1967 Melbourne) in 1996 at West Melbourne. We currently have two children. Elisabetta Maria, Born 1997 and Giuseppe Adriano born 2000. We all reside at Ivanhoe Melbourne.
My brother Daniel lives at 12 Coburg. He has one son Andrew Thomas Born 2001, and lives with his defacto Cheryl who also has a daughter from a previous marriage, Shannon.
Simon is married to Luisa (Uselli) who lives at Glenroy. (No children yet)
Family in Italy:
Zio (Uncle) Silvio now works at Hertz Fiumicino Airport Rome Italy. He has a son and a daughter, Dario and Marcella. Silvio is married to Adriana.
Zio (Uncle)Ruggero lives in Ancona. He has two daughters, Rita and Lucy. They both reside in Rome.
