Updated August 14, 2006

About Our Family Research

The Losoya homestead stood at the southwest corner of the Alamo Fortress from 1756 to 1920's this location was the home of the Losoya family. During that time, the site and the family played and integral part in the history of San Antonio. In 1835, the home was taken under the command of General Perfecto Cos, filled in with rubble and turned into a cannon platform. The cannon platform remained through the 1836 Battle of the Alamo. Concetion Losoya, her son's Torrilbo 22 years old and Juan 12 years old and daughter Juana
17 were in the Alamo encampment during the battle. Torrilbo was a member of Seguins Company and was killed and burned with the other defenders. After the defeat of the Mexican army, the Losoyas were able to dig through the rubble and return to their home. Today a plaque sits at the site dedicated to the Losoya Family.
I will be glad to share any information on the Family!
