My grandfather was born Charles James Thomas Portwood to J.B./Zebulon and Charlotta Elizabeth (Reece) Portwood. He was born in the Atlanta Georgia area around 1906. J.B. was killed in a railroad/sawmill accident sometime around 1910. Charlotta (Lottie) remarried a man named Rufus Hicks. They ended up in Northeast Oklahoma. Charles took on the Hicks name even though he was neverlegally adopted by Rufus. Charles(Charlie) married my grandmother Laura Arlene Witham in 1933. They had two children, Clinton Laverne,b.1934 and Denton Starr(my dad) b. 1935. Charlie died in 1938. Laura Arlene (Lena) remarried Robert Delmont. He legally adopted Clinton and Denton thus becomng Delmont's.
I have been trying to discover the Portwood family history but I'm hitting a brick wall.
