About Our Family Research


Nan Delaney and 4 children arrived in NYC aboard the Western Star on May 11, 1852 from ballingarry, County Tipperary, Ireland by way of Queenstown, County Cork. They moved inland to Honesdale, Pa. Son Daniel went to Texas and became a blacksmith in Texarkana, son William stayed in Honesdale and operated a boat on the Delaware & Hudson Canal. William's son Thomas, an Erie Railroad conductor, moved to Port Jervis, NY in 1894, son Joseph became a glass cutter for Libbey Glass and settled in Toledo, OH, and son William was also employed by the Erie and settled in Hornell, NY. Oldest son Patrick was also on the Erie and lived in Deposit, NY, daughters Emma and Mary lived in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan.
