This is the start of the search for the Muņozes from Malaga.
Jose Muņoz who originated from Malaga, Spain came to the Philippines sometime in the 1850's. He married Bruna Layos from Cavite and had five children. Antonio (married a Cinco), Jose (married a Mendiola), Maria (married a Conde), Rafael (married Luciana Rama and was widowed. He remarried his sister-in-law, Tiburcia Rama), and lastly Ramon (married a Tuason).
My grandfather, Rafael was born in Tagbilaran, Bohol. His parents, Jose and Bruna then settled in Catbalogan, Samar. Rafael, after marriage settled down in Calbayog, Samar where he raised his family.
Rafael was the first Justice of the Peace (Municipal Judge) of Calbayog, having been appointed by the 1st Military Governor, Gen. Arthur McArthur in 1899. Upon the establishment of the Civil Government in the Philippine Islands, He was re-appointed by Governor General William Howard Taft. The longest-serving judge of Calbayog from 1899 to 1932.
The other 3 sons, Antonio, Jose and Ramon upon getting married - also settled in Catbalogan and raised their families there. Maria Muņoz, the only daughter after getting married to Francisco Conde settled down in Manila.

If Rafael is 5 years old here. The year must have been 1873. At the bottom of the picture is the name of the photographer: "Leon Mateo, Fotografo"

- Amparo Muņoz de Salinas (167 KB)
Youngest daughter of the 2nd Jose Muņoz (married to Mendiola). Amparo (2.4. on the family tree) married a Salinas. Died at a young age of 36 years old in 1933.
- Enrique Conde y Muņoz (208 KB)
The youngest and 5th child of Maria Muņoz and Francisco Conde. Father to the PAL pilot - Manoling Conde (3.5.1. on the family tree). Can anyone verify this?
