About Our Family Research

I am a descendent of Brian Mcnamara & Mary Reddy. Brian was transported to Australia per "Sir Godfrey Webster" in 1826 for stealing a sheep, leaving behind his wife Mary & 6 children in county Mayo (Murrisk) He was assigned to a Thomas Rose of Appin in N.S.W. In 1830 Brian applie to have his wife & family bought to Australia. Mary & four children arrived on the "Caroline" in 1833. children (James, thomas, Honoria,& Mary. Another child Ann was born in Australia in 1834. Two boys Michael & John we assume were left behind in Mayo.IIn May 1835 brian McNamara of Appin was tried in Sydney for murder. He was not guilty. However in November 1835 he was tried again for housebreaking & was transported to Norfolk Island where he spent four years of hardlabour. He was returned to his family in Sydney. He received his conditional pardon. I have traced James & Thomas of whom I am a descendent. I cannot find the deaths of Brian & Mary.
