~ The above names are a few in my childrens'ancestry. I possess a photocopy of a book written by Father Lacombe in St. Albert, Alberta (en francais) dating back to 1639 which obtained from a distant cousin whom I discovered during a visit to Albert around 1977. ~ My ancestry is half Scottish, of which I have little knowledge. I certainly would like to know more (Dempster, Childs, White.) I remember my Granny visiting some of her relatives who lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. ~ On the French side of my ancestry, my great grandmother was either Cree or Metis (her name was Clemence Petit, her husband was David Chevigny, and her parents were Louis Petit and Angelique Laroque. She married at 15 and died at 27. ~ My hubby is interested in his background as well, which, on his maternal side, goes back to Trinidad, then further back to Portugal. His paternal side goes back to Guyana, S.A., then further back to Portugal also. There is a story about three brothers who left Portugal. One went to the West Indies, one to Guyana, and one to Brazil.
