William Lea Davis (son of Harmon Davis III and Nancy Posey) was born Nov 18, 1835 in Winston Co., AL137, and died Feb 06, 1919 in Sargossa, AL (a few miles from Prospect)138. He married Mary Ann Blackwell on Sep 16, 1858139, daughter of Davidson Blackwell and Sophia Henry.

Walker County was created by the Alabama legislature on 1823 Dec. 26, and was named for U.S. Senator John Williams Walker. The county is located in the northwestern part of the state, and is bordered by Winston, Cullman, Blount, Jefferson, Tuscaloosa, Fayette, and Marion counties. Walker County is exceeded only by Jefferson County in the production of coal. The county is drained by the Black Warrior River and Mulberry and Sipsey Forks. The county seat is Jasper, named for William Jasper, a hero of the American Revolution. Other towns and communities include Carbon Hill, Corona, and Cordova. Fires at the courthouse occurred in 1865, 1877, 1886, and 1932.

"WILLIAM LEA "LEE" DAVIS, ninth child of Harman and Nancy Davis, born 11-18-1835 Winston County, Ala. died 2-16-1919 with burial in Scott Cemetery, rural Carbon Hill, Ala. Through land deeds, Wm. L. David in section 35, Twsp. 12, Range 8, which is the Crossroads-Gamble area in Walker County, Ala. in the years 1883-1887. Sometime around the turn of the century, Wm. L. Davis and his family relocated on a section of land near Prospect and north of Buck Creek. At least three of his children reared their families on this land and have descendants in this area today. Wm. and several members of his family were members of the Crossroads Methodist Church in the 1880s and 1890s. ( See Chism History) , marr: MARY ANN BLACKWELL, born 3-22-1841, died 6-24-1882, was the first wife of Wm.L. Davis and the mother of his children. After her death Wm. L. Davis marr: ELizabeth "Lizzie"_______, born 2-16-1836, died 1914 with burial at Scott Cemetery. Elizabeth signed the deeds when they left Crossroads. Wm. L. Davis and Mary Ann Blackwell had 7 children.
NANCY EVALINE DAVIS, tenth child of Harman and Nancy Davis, born 1837, died 8-1881, Kansas, Ala. marr: Alexander Henry Blackwell 11-01-1855. "Jean Brand 012498.

"Davis Trail Tracing" by Pat York Davis - "Billy" Davis was the eighth child of Harmon and Nancy Dvis. Probate records - Book B p386. On April 14, 1888, W. L. Davis was granted letters of guardianship for: son Freeman Davis (minor), daughter May Davis (minor). Papers also stated that he is the grandfather of Marcellus Burton, (Abt 16). 1867 Voter Registration List for Walker County, AL states that he was born in Tuscaloosa, AL. (Phil Henson, B'ham, AL)
