He served in the Rev. War as 1st Lieut. 4th SC Artillery, May 1776; Capt 29 May 1777; wounded at Savanah 9 Oct 1779; taken prisoner at Charleston 12 May 1780; prisoner on parole to the close of the war; Brevet Major 30 Sep 1783. Reference Heitman, National Archives - files burned in War Dept 1800.

1790 Census Newberry Dist, SC with wife and 1 s under 16, 1 dau at home.

Will: Harmon Davis Sr. in Newbery Co., SC states Henry Steadman as one of the heirs. Phoebe Davis and Stephen Shell Adm.
