About Our Family Research

The Browns are descended from William G.Brown,b-around 1870 and his wife Lorena.( I cannot find out who she is) They lived in and around Dresden, and Fort Ann in Washington Co, New York. They raised a faamily of 7 children. William died when Julius, the 5th child was a young teenager, leaving the burden of raising the family to Lorena, after paying Williams debts, she maintained the family blacksmith shop in an effort to support the family. Julius grew up and fought with the Union Army at the siege of Petersburg, and Richmond in 1864 & '65.

Loren Johnson b-1837, married on June 19 1861, in Saratoga Co., New York to Mary Elizabeth Southard, who's lineage I have traced back to 1500 in Holland, and England. They had a good sized family, one of whom was my Grandfather, James H. Johnson.
