Westly and Janie Williams was born slaves in South Carolina, in the 1850s. They married sometime after the emancipation and had twelve children. There children were part of the first generation of free slaves listed on the 1870 census report. Westly and his family resided on the Moss Farm Plantation in Edgefield County.
This research is about their survival during difficult and depressing times in the South.
Black people lives in the south was very hard. However, in spite of unhappy times they were able to grow a Family Tree-- The williams Family Tree.
Faith in God, endurance and perseverance was not only a natural committment, but a true gift from God. Our Family Tree was planted in Edgefield and the branches started growing in Saluda in 1893. Since then our roots have grown in many different States and Countries.
God is the only one who knows how they survived the toils of life during a most difficult time. Thank you GOD
