The Diez/Dietz Family from 1301 Lutts Road, Youngstown, NY 14174 is conducting a genealogy search for our family that came from Germany to America in 1868 on the Steamer Union. The Steamer Union arrived in New York City on February 3, 1868 from Bremen. Our ancestors, Johann Friedrich Diez and his wife Anna Barbara Holder Diez left Dettingen-unter-teck near Stuttgart in 1868. Dettingen-unter-teck means Dettingen under the castle-Teck. They went to Wilson, NY and later Youngstown, NY. He was a farmer. They had one son Jacob when they left. Jacob was born in Germany. Johann Friedrich was born in Dettingen-unter-teck on 4-4-1843. Anna Barbara was born 09-26-1846. Family lore indicated that some family members went to the Chicago area. Some said North Carolina, Texas, and Colorado but we think relatives could be anywhere. We seek any other available information on any family members from all sources. Thank you. Check our website at: http://diezfamily.topcities.com for more info and Re-Union details.
