Have been trying to locate family members of my Grandfather and Grandmother. My grandfather Giovanni DiMuro, was born in Muro Lucano,(Potenza)Italy, March 3, 1886 and his parents were Francisco DiMuro and Felecia Ferrara. My Grandmother Maria Antoinette Ferrara was born May 3 1896, in Italy, and her parents were Anthony Ferrara and Rosa Quiglia. They were both from the same town in Italy and were first cousins; which would lead me to believe that Anthony Ferrara (Grandmothers father) and Felecia (Felezia) Ferrara (Grandpa's mother) were brother and sister.
Giovanni came to US first approximately 1906 and apparently stayed with relatives in Harlem on 117th and Second Avenue. He was in Construction, something with the beginning of the Union, back then. He was also in the Ice business. My grandmother came over sometime around October 1913 and this is based on info on their Marriage Certificate from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in NYC, they were married February 8, 1914 and as to when she had her first child, who did not live, given 9 months of pregnancy, estimated date of arrival in US is 1913. She had brothers and a sister already in US, 4 brothers who were all in the Ice business and sister known as 'Zia Marie". All lived in the Harlem area (@117th St/Second Ave) some went to NJ and some to the Bronx - Zerega Avenue area. Uncle Pat (Pasquale Ferrara)one of her brothers) was married to Bridget and the other brothers were Nicholas, Frank, and Jim. Another name in the connection somewhere is Tony Rota - he was my grandfathers cousin. I have been able to find one some of my grandmothers line (through various postings on sites)- something which has been definitely established and continue with the search for more!
