DiSanto and Zumar families

Updated November 9, 2000

About Our Family Research

I am researching my Italian and Ruthenian heritage. On my father's side, from Stigliano, Italy,in the province of Basilicata the surnames are DiSanto, Fornabaio, Comito, Giachella, Montesano, Garinolo, D'Ambrosio. Denise and Mauro are surnames that are probably from another part of Italy.
My mother was Ruthenian and her parents were from the Presov region of Slovakia. The surnames are: Zumar,Mihaly, Timan, Krako (spelling), and Sauka (spelling). They came from the towns of Kryslova and Jedlova (there is a word before this place indicating "north" I think). They would be close to Svidnik.
I would be interested in hearing from anyone with any information regarding the meaning of the surnames, or any relatives out there.
God bless us all,
Maria
