This is mother's family side of the family. My mother's father (who was my grandfather)was Joseph Tafman Travelstead and was married to my mother's mother (my grandmother)Sarah Margaret Parks.
My grandmother's mother (great grandmother)was Betty Mae Edwards Parks who was lead to believe a native american (Cherokee Indian). Later my great grandmother married an Otis Cox. She had a son Otis Cox who is of Chicago, and four daughters; Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Grimaldi and Mrs. Casey (Lottie) Williams also of Chicago, and Mrs. Joseph (Margeuerite) Travelstead of New Haven, Illinois and Mrs. Fred (Alma) Watson of Shawneetown, Illinois. There are to be known of 26 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, this was at the time of death which was around 1958.
My grandmother's father was John Edwards who was from Union County, KY. They married in Shawneetown, Illinois on March 26, 1887.
Now according to my mother her grandfather (my great grandfather was suppose to be full blooded German and some Irish, his name was John Jackson Travelstead. He only spoke fluent German to my great grandmother who was the one who could talk to him. Their name was changed when they came from Germany, from Traffanstadt, Treffenstadt, Travis, Street. (Photos of this family will come later). There has been some information where we are related to Christian Treffenstadt. My aunt has a book on it and that is where this information came from.
If anyone can provide any information regarding this family tree,I would greatly appreciate to hear from you.
