James Adams and descendants of Iredell County No. Carolina Updated June 13, 2006
About Our Family Research
I've been researching James Adams and his family for about 25 years. I now know there are 2 completely different families of the James Adams descendents; and at this point can not prove they are connected in any way. It has taken me several years to separate the 2 families. I have researched nearly every family in the Iredell area, trying to find information on my James Adams line. I've made maps etc. trying to locate each family and where they lived in relationship to my family members.
This is a working piece and I still have a lot of information I want to find.
My James Adams is from England and came to America around 1770, or a little later; and landed in Virginia. He will eventually end up in Iredell & Alexander County, NC, and die there. He will marry late in life and have a family with Ritter Blankenship. My descendent, John J. Adams will be a son of theirs. He marries Sophronia Thompson and moves to Texas around 1850 (Williamson County Tx.)after all their children are born in North Carolina. So I have a lot of information on each of their children.
I also have researched the Blankenship, Lackey, Stephenson, and Thompson family lines and how they connect to our Adams family in the area in North Carolina. I hope to have this online soon too. Plus, I have researched the James Adams family that is NOT connected to this line, because I needed to know what belonged to my line or the other James Adams family.
I have not been able to attend the family reunions in North Carolina, but have visited several times. We no longer have Adams family reunions in Texas.
I'm hoping that someone out there will see a family member and let me know some stories about your connection to this line. My only request is that if you use some or all of my information please give me credit for the information. I have in the past sold my Adams booklet and I see the information online by other people and I haven't been given credit for it.
