My parents came from families with great histories. My ancestors have helped this great country to become what it is today. My ancestors have fought in every war for freedom this country has waged. They were strong men and women who came to this country to find a better life for their children and for them selves. I am so greatful and proud for their courage. Mathews,Harris,Kings,Self,Renfroe,Hiers,Clower,Jones,Murray,
Tidwell and McDowells are a few of the surnames that are included in my wonderful family. I search for my history for my children and grandchildred also for anyone who has a connection to these great American pioneers. My Aunt Hilda Mathews was a collecter of tidbits of information. My Great grandfather Stephen Jonah King created a family reunion that has been gathering for 96 years. My parents Mildred King-Mathews and James Walton Mathews were the keepeers of family stories. I'm trying to save all that I can. I remember all of the old folks of my childhood. I wish I had started to climb this wonderful old tree when I was much younger. My Uncle Sam King was a great mentor. My thanks to all of my family for your help and advise on where to look and who to ask about the family. I have always said what better history to study than ones own.
