Descendants of Charles & Fredreika Hollwedel

About Our Family Research

I'm just getting started in researching my family tree; mostly working right now on my dad's paternal branch. I've found Charles & Fredreika (Zang) Hollwedel living in Brooklyn in 1900, married about 18 years, w/ 7 children, all still living at home, ages infant to 14. By 1910, The 2 oldest have moved out (Charles and Catharine), leaving 4 children. Apparently, the infant did not survive to 1910. Note: in 1900, Mrs. Hollwedel reports 7 births, 7 living offspring; by 1910, she reports 12 births, only 6 living offspring.
My grandfather appears in the 1900 census as 5 year old Henry. In 1910, he shows up as 14 year old William A.H., a "wagon boy," no longer in school, working for a store of some sort. Later, as hus band and father, he was a truck driver. We always believed his name to be Henry Wlm. August Hollwedel, but perhaps he was Wlm. A.H. Hollwedel.
