The study of my family history began after my retirement from public service in 1991. A trip to the State Museum Archives in Trenton, NJ sparked my interest after I was able to discover much information about my family. Further trips to churches for records of baptisms, marriages and death records along with time spent in cemeteries looking at tombstones and trips to newspaper archives uncovered a wealth of additional information, a lot of which I never knew. My biggest regret is that I did not become interested in this endeavor prior to several family members' deaths. Over the course of the years I have discovered close family relatives that I never knew existed and some of whom I have kept in touch with. As with many other families of Irish descent I have been able to trace my family back to my ggf who arrived from Ireland sometime prior to 1849. Now at the ripe old age of 77 I hope to be able to retrieve additional information before I myself am a memory.
