Walter Chiles was born in England, and died 1652 in Virginia. He married Elizabeth.

Resided: Immigrated to Virginia in 1638 with his wife and two sons, evidently in his own ship. With them were four other persons. Thus he was granted 400 acres in Charles City County (now Prince George) near the falls of Appomattox River.

Occupation: Member of the House of Burgesses, explored the area southwest of the Appomattox, traded with Indians, and as a ship owner (The Fame of Virginia) traded with Holland, England and possibly Braeil.
