Court For Henrico Co., Va., At Varina, June 1679: "Joseph Eyre allowed pay for rowing the Burgesses to town - rowing from Varina to Jamestown." (Many Virginia planters, including Joseph Eyre, had boats and Negro crews for hire as well as for their own transportation.)
