John Fleming (son of Malcolm Fleming and Joan Stewart) was born 1534 in Scotland, and died September 6, 1572 in Biggar Scotland. He married Elizabeth Ross on May 10, 1562.

John Fleming succeeded his brother, James, Fourth Lord Fleming, who died December 15, 1558, at age 24 years. John had a charter as second son of Malcom, Lord Fleming, and Janet Stewart, his wife, of the lands of Sunderland in Selkirkshire and Mossfennan in Peebles on September 29, 1541.

He was appointed Great Chamberlain for life by commission dated June 30, 1565, had a gift under Privy Seal from Queen Mary of the Office of Master Usher of Her Majesty's Chambers during his life. John, Lord Fleming, married May 10, 1562, Elizabeth Ross, only child of Robert, Master of Ross, was the second son of Malcolm third Lord Fleming and Janet Stewart.
