I am researching the DORGAN Family of Rhode Island and County Cork, Ireland. The first known immigrant was Patrick J. Dorgan of Ballybraher, Ballycotton, County Cork, Ireland. Patrick was born in Ballybraher, Ballycotton, County Cork Ireland on April 26, 1860. He was a farmer like his father, Patrick Dargan. He immigrated to Rhode Island (via Ellis Island) on October 28, 1896 and died in Cranston, Rhode Island on December 9, 1937 at the age of 77. His wife, Mary Hartnett followed him with their five children on June 9, 1897. She was born June 29, 1869 in Churchtown South, Ballycotton, County Cork, Ireland and died in Warwick, Rhode Island on November 23, 1950 at the age of 81. Patrick and Mary were married on November 26, 1886 in Cloyne Roman Catholic Church, Cloyne, County Cork, Ireland. The names of the five children were Anne Theresa (April 24, 1887-June 1, 1976), Michael Joseph (February 25, 1889-August 1967), Patrick F.(May 25, 1891-April 8, 1969), David A.(September 9, 1893-October 4, 1984), John (December 16, 1895 and died in infancy) and William John (April 11, 1897-February 22, 1983). Two other children were born in Providence, Rhode Island: Timothy J. (June 17, 1902-April 17, 1903) and Mary Catherine (March 19, 1905-December 20, 1996).
