Thank you for visiting our homepage. We hope that the information contained in these pages may help you with your research. The Douglass Branch that we are tracing goes all the way from Kansas back to Pennsylvannia. Terry's grandfather grew up in and around Barnes, Ks and Herington, Ks.(1900's) We have very little information on any of the cousins. We would appreciate any information that people out there have. We have traced the family back to Pittsburgh, Pa. The Douglass family were boilermaker's back there. They eventually gave up boilermaking and moved to Iowa. They lived there from 1853 to about 1860. They were in Iowa in the 1860 Cedar Co. Census. From there, they moved to Barnes, Ks in Washingto Co. The children moved off. Our branch moved to Herington, Ks. Then to around Topeka, Ks. My husband and I have kind of lived all over the three state area of Kansas, Texas, and now Oklahoma. We originally started this research back 11 years ago. We found quite a bit of confirmation at that time. Then we hit a brick wall. We moved around for the next 4 years. We didn't get much research done, because of all the moves we made. When we moved here to Oklahoma, I began to research again on the internet. When we got our computer, we really began to get a lot of breakthrough. We have encountered a couple of cousins. I have seen a lot of names that match ours and am now beginning to make the needed connections. If any of you find familiar names, please contact us and maybe we can find out if you fit in our genealogy or maybe you might have the missing links that we are looking for to complete our family tree. Have fun and great hunting to you all!
