About Our Family Research
This started out as an effort to dispell or confirm the Idea that I am of Choctaw ancestry. I have grown up thinking that my grandmother Beatrice Inez Leggett was full blooded Choctaw. She married James William DeJarneatte( or Dejarnatt or Dejarnette) and they had 13 children. Some of my cousins think he was the one that was half American Indian, so my search begins. James William Dejarnatte and Beatrice Inez Leggett had 13 children. My mother was one of them. Lula DeJarneatte, born September 27 1919. She married my Father, Andrew Jackson Draughon from Durham, North Carolina.
My name is Hardy Terry Draughon, born June 30th. 1950 and I have 2 siblings by the above mentioned marriage, Andrew J. Draughon III, Linda Sherril Draughon, along with 2 half brothers and one half sister.
